Think To Slim is a behavioural program designed to change the way that people think and feel about food. By seeing food as fuel for your body, it is possible to make small changes in our behaviour patterns that have a significant long term effect on both health and well-being.
The Think To Slim program consists of 7 sessions that are each aimed at changing various aspects of our attitudes and beliefs about food.
The Think To Slim process...
Through the relaxation process of Group and Self Hypnosis, it is possible to access the subconscious part of the mind. Here is where all of our beliefs and attitudes to the world are stored. In day to day life, our Conscious mind works hard at protecting these beliefs and this makes it difficult sometimes to challenge them and make changes that logically make sense to us. Hypnotherapy enables us to give the conscious mind a rest, so that we can work on changing our negative beliefs into healthier, more positive ones.
Group sessions are a great way to discuss your progress with other people. The sessions also provide you time to work through various exercises and discussion topics with others who have the same goal as you.
Most people who have dieted in the past find that it works. For a little while anyway. You set yourself a short term goal and when you’ve reached that goal it becomes difficult to maintain. These diets are focussed around the idea of deprivation. By denying ourselves of the bad food we will lose weight. This is true, however who can go through life without ever having a slice of chocolate cake again? More importantly, who would want to?
The focus of Think To Slim is on listening to your body. Whilst it is still important to each healthy, balanced, and nutritious meals, it is equally as important to enjoy your food. By eating only when you are hungry and stopping when you are full, you will find yourself eating smaller portions of food.
Think To Slim uses seven different session topics in order to create lasting weight loss by focusing on various aspects to people's behaviour around food. Through our own individual experiences with clients these have shown themselves to be the main obstacles that people encounter when they try to ‘diet’.
The Think To Slim program is based around 5 important points;
1. Eat only when you are hungry
2. Stop as soon as you begin to feel full
3. Savour every mouthful
4. Move more
5. Drink plenty of water
The Seven Think to Slim Topics
Topic 1
Preparing for change
For most people, this will be the first time they have encountered hypnotherapy. This first stage is aimed at introducing the relaxation process and preparing your subconscious mind to making those changes that you really want to make. This is also the time to start thinking about what you want to get out of this process.
Topic 2
Listening to your body
This session is aimed at getting you to really listen to the needs of your body. Introducing the idea that it is actually O.K to leave some food on your plate as long as you feel full, as well as thinking about what kinds of food will sustain you until your next meal.
Topic 3
Releasing Negative Behaviours
It is important to become aware of any negative beliefs you may have towards yourself, and towards your eating behaviour. Some of these may be obvious to you, but there may be others that perhaps you are not aware of. The relaxation process allows for these hidden beliefs to come to your awareness so that you can release them and replace them with more positive and healthy beliefs about yourself and your eating behaviours.
Topic 4
Creating a positive future
In order for these changes to remain in place it is important to visualise the positive future that you are working towards.
Topic 5
Overcoming obstacles
At this point in the program you may have encountered a few obstacles already. Maybe you have found that during a particular time of the day you want to binge eat? Or perhaps special occasions are preventing you from achieving your goal. This is all perfectly normal and it is important to acknowledge these challenges in order for you to overcome them.
If you haven't encountered any challenges yet since beginning Think To Slim, then it can be very useful to think ahead at any potential issues that may present themselves later on down the line.
Topic 6
Confidence boost
Who doesn’t need a bit of a confidence boost every once in a while? Even the most confident and self-assured among us sometimes need a reminder of just how wonderful we really are. This session will improve your levels of self-confidence and self-esteem and leave you feel ready to take on the world!
Topic 7
Motivation
Although you won’t need motivation in the same way that you do when on a diet, we all need motivation in some form every day to help maintain our energy levels and achieve the things that we need and want to achieve. This session will help you to identify the areas in which you want to invest some of your time and energy and make you feel more motivated than ever before to go out and do just that!
